✅ Guiding Principles for Fundraising with Life & Time

We welcome and support community fundraising when the following conditions are met:

  • Primary Purpose:

    The primary aim of any fundraising event or initiative must be to raise funds for Life & Time. Events that include another registered charity or non-profit partner are welcome, but private enterprise or personal profit must not be a goal or outcome.

  • Not-for-Profit Requirement:

    Events must not generate private income for individuals or businesses. Any fundraising that involves commercial activity must be clearly separated from charitable giving.

  • Transparency in Branding:

    Anyone wishing to use the Life & Time name, logo, or branding in promotional materials must first obtain written permission from the charity’s directors.

    Use of our brand must also clearly state the proportion or percentage of total funds raised that will be received by Life & Time.

    It is not acceptable to refer only to “profits” without disclosing how the funds are calculated or distributed.

  • Advance Costs:

    Life & Time cannot provide funding in advance for participation in sponsored events (e.g., parachute jumps, marathons, ticketed activities).

    All costs should be covered by the participant or organiser unless otherwise approved by the charity in writing.

  • Director Approval Required:

    No fundraising activities, public appeals, or events should proceed under the Life & Time name without the express permission of the charity’s directors.

    This is to ensure alignment with our values, brand, and responsibilities under Northern Ireland charity law and Fundraising Regulator standards.

❌ Examples of Unacceptable Fundraising Practice

  • Hosting a commercial event with limited or no clarity on what portion of ticket sales goes to Life & Time.

  • Advertising that “profits” will be donated without a breakdown or transparency.

  • Promoting private business using the Life & Time brand without permission.

  • Using the Life & Time name as part of a fundraising initiative where most funds are allocated to cover event or personal costs.
